need help

Hey moms out there, I'm a 17 year old senior. In order for me to graduate i have to have a senior portfolio, which includes me having to do a documentary on a social issue. the social issue i chose is "television effecting a child's behavior". so i was wondering if you could record yourselves talking about how this has effected your childs life or email me writing about this issue, so i can include in my documentary. @[e-mail]

Destiny:  I'm a stepmother to three, youngest being 9 and an aunt to 3.  I've observed for years the way TV erodes kids' imaginations!  They become passive learners.  For ex. When my niece was 10 I took her to the Art Institute to look at some art.  We stood in front of a dutch master painting, Rembrandt I think, and I asked her where do you think they're going dressed like that?  She just stared at me blankly.  I asked, "What do you think just happened before this moment was captured on canvas?"  Again, nothing.  Her imagination had been turned off by all of the tv she'd watched.  But put her in front of a tv, and she'd go into some kind of a trance and sit there for hours.  Even with tv, if we watched a movie, I might ask what was the message or what did you learn about so and so from watching this show, and often there was no response.  She's an extremely bright young lady, so that wasn't the problem.  The problem was that her imagination muscle hadn't been sparked and used for a long time.  Add all the tech stuff now like video games, and 'smartphones,' which make  many of us, including me, dumber, and the like, and I'm afraid that the current generation and all those to follow will lose the ability to actively imagine at all, not to mention create and innovate.  I'd be happy to talk to your further about this.  email me at [e-mail]  I"m devoting my blog to this very topic.
