I am attempting to make a cow themed cake for my daughter's 11th birthday in a couple of weeks - any ideas or links you can share? I am stumped! I don't want to buy a cake pan as I probably wouldn't use it again. P.s. we are not big on coloring, but would use chocolate and vanilla icing.

Sorry I had missed your tweet. Ok here's is my suggestion, it's simple and no mold is required!!

Type "cow coloring book " into google and pick something simple. Make it the size you wish to have on the cake and print the picture.
Ice your cake with white buttercream icing .
Put in freezer for about 15-20 minutes.
While cake is in freezer, take a piece of parchment paper and trace the cow picture onto the parchment paper with a lead pencil.
Using a piping bag ( or you can use a ziplock bag and cut a piece of the corner), fill it with a little piping gel and trace your drawing on the parchment paper.
Take your cake out of the freezer and place your parchment paper (gel side towards cake) and pass your finger on the piping gel to transfer the image.
Carefully peel off parchment paper and you have your cow.
Now fill it in with icing using the gel as your guide for your picture . Use chocolate and vanilla icing to make the dark and white spots

Do you have a round cake pan?  What if you made a large round cake and 1 cupcake.  Cut the top off of the cupcake and frost chocolate for the cow's nose.  Frost the large round one with vanilla frosting and the cupcake top with chocolate.  Put the cupcake "nose:" at the bottom center of the round cake.  Add spots of chocolate frosting to the round cake for the cow's spots.  I've NEVER tried this, but we made a paper plate craft that was similar and I think it would work great!
