Redesigning your bathroom is one thing. Redesigning your bathroom when you’ve got small children is something else entirely. Families who plan on remodeling need to consider that young children won’t stay small forever, but while they’re growing they also tend to be rough on objects around the house. As such, special accommodations should be made to ensure that your bathroom is safe enough for your children but also useful enough for adults. Here are a few tricks you can use to guarantee…

Potty Training is not really my cup of tea :( Really, I have tried to learn it , but my wife is the one , who know how to do it and the patient to do it.
Today my wife was no tat home and I was in trouble as my youngest wanted to do it in the potty (he is also having a bad digestion problem at the moment) , like he is doing with his mom. And guess what..I don't know how his mom does it !
I think I have to stay at home more , not only concentrating on my job.
Anyways ,…

Let’s get one thing straight here. I am by no means a “PETA Parent.” I eat meat. I wear leather. I drive a Ford Ranger because a Prius stinks at hauling antique vanities. However, I do believe that people should take some responsibility for their impact on the environment. That’s why my family actively recycles, grows our own vegetables and composts our trash. We only get one earth, after all.
This is value my husband and I have been actively trying to instill in our children. We…

Relationship building is probably the single biggest misstep of current society. As the proud father / step-father to six (6) children and many years of coaching experience, I have found that technology at all levels of society has created problems.
For instance, kids no longer talk to their friends like we did before texting, couples very rarely pick up the phone and check in - when we do not like someone we post a random thought on Facebook or we "tweet" about it indirectly. If we…

My name is Katherine Stanley, and I am 17 years old. I have written a book called A Book of Bullies, and it will be published soon by Grateful Steps Publishing. Unfortunately, bullying is something I know a lot about. I was born with a medical condition that makes me a bit different from most kids my age, and I was bullied and made fun of a lot in school. Bullying is…

Tis the season for head lice. If your children are attending summer camp, be sure to use a nit comb every few days to check for head lice. There has been a surge in head lice cases reported throughout the city and suburbs. If you see your child scratching more than usual, be careful not to write it off to dry skin. An itchy scalp is a sign that head lice may be present. A good metal nit comb, can be your best defense against the little critters!

It’s not uncommon for parents to decide that they’re better suited to a home office than a cubicle somewhere downtown. Working from home gives you a chance to spend more time with your kids while earning a stable living at the same time. It also happens to be the perfect excuse to become an entrepreneur and start the business you’ve always dreamed of owning.
However, being an entrepreneur isn’t all board meetings and Christmas bonuses. There’s a lot of work involved in setting up a…

Every child wants to be part of a team or community. Whether it is a certain group of friends at school, the football team or an after-school club, children want to be “part of the gang”, whatever gang that happens to be.
Part of being a team or community member is being able to communicate openly. This does not mean opening your mouth and saying whatever comes to mind. It means being able to think about what you want to say, the best way to say it appropriate to the person or…

Pointing is one of the most important pre-verbal gestures and a crucial communication milestones that emerges within the first year of life.
Studies show that a child’s use of gesture and pointing at 14 months is the best predictor of later vocabulary size.
That’s right... a larger vocabulary for children who use pointing to…

We all know someone who has a lisp, right?
There are actually four different types of lisps (see below), but the most common is an interdental lisp, when the tongue pushes through the front teeth and the /s/ sound is pronounced like a /th/. “See”…
